22nd Annual Lip Rippin' Chilympics
Join us on Sunday, Nov. 3 from 11-5 for one of the best Fall events on the Grand Strand. The Lip Rippin' Chilympics Chili Cookoff is one of the longest running events in Murrells Inlet, which bring friends, family, competitors and most important....Chili fans to the Inlet to usher in the Fall. Over 30 teams will compete for over $1,000 in cash and prizes. But we all know its really about the bragging rights!
As usual, we will have the best live music performing on the Tuna Shak stage. Get down with some reggae with DownTribe, and then jam out Santana's greatest hits with Wicked Fire.
The event is free to enter and we welcome all ages. We love dogs but please leave them at home.
Tickets are only sold at the event. As usual, New South Beer, Barefoot Wines Sangria and Tito's specialty drinks will be sold at our event. All proceeds from the Chilympics will benefit the Sea Beyond Foundation, a local non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the oceans and educating the public on how we can all make a difference.

2021
Go for the Goat Kayak and Paddleboard Race
This kayak and paddleboard race was the first event of its kind by MIL in Murrells Inlet. Though small in numbers for its inaugural event, our participants made up for in enthusiasm. The event raised $500 for the Horry County Junior Lifeguards Association led by Duke Brown.
2021
Art on the Inlet
The Art On The Inlet was held October 24 at the Wicked Tuna in MI. Over 50 local artists and craftsman displayed their talents and creations on a beautiful Fall day. Transit Soul entertained the crowd on a beautiful Fall day. This event raised $500 for Fresh Brewed Coffee house, a faith-based, nonprofit community coffeehouse in downtown Myrtle Beach whose mission is to provide a temporary haven for those in need to build connections to community resources and caring people with love, grace, hope, and a fresh brewed cup of coffee.
2022
Oyster Roast & Bloody Mary Contest
The people of the Grand Strand were ready to get out after the pandemic, and they all came to the Murrells Inlet. The 8th Annual Oyster Roast and Bloody Mary Contest drew over 6,000 participants, and the enthusiasm couldn't have been higher! 33 of the Grand Strand's proudest brought their original concoction to compete against eachother for the title of Best Bloody Mary. The crowd was also treated to some amazing local oysters on a perfect March day. Borgata of Surfside took home the title. The vent also featured food trucks, vendors, and live music. This event race over $25,000 for the Grand Strand Humane Society.
2022
Lip Rippin' Chilympics
The 20th Annual Lip Rippin' Chilympics at the Wicked Tuna in Murrells Inlet was held on November 6. 28 teams competed for the right to be Chili Master. Mr. Fish of Myrtle Beach beat out all the other competitors with its Smoked Tuna Chili, and took home the trophy and $500 in cash. The People’s Choice was won by Chili The Kid. Other winners included: Pawleys Island Tavern (hottest), Most Original (Pop Pops BBQ), Best Vegetarian (The Sportsman), and Best Theme (Chili The Kid). This event raised over $18,000 for the Friends of the Skateparks to help rebuild the Matt Hughes Skate Park.

2023
The 21st Annual Lip Rippin' Chilympics at the Wicked Tuna in Murrells Inlet was once again delayed due to weather, and was eventually held on Nov.12 at. Even though we lost a few teams due to the weather delay, we still had 23 teams from around the Grand Strand fiercely compete for the title of Chili Master. New-comer S2 Golf Carts took home the Best Overall trophy, as well as 1st place in the Hottest category. Other winners included Regal Woodworking (Best Vegetarian) and the Axemen (People's Choice and Best Theme). Despite the smaller turnout, the event raised over $10,874 for the Sea Beyond Foundation.

Mary Contest
Well we finally got to have an event on the original date with NO WEATHER DELAYS, and did the people turn out! Probably our biggest crowd yet. This crowd was ready to get out and enjoy the Spring weather. Not only did we sell out of beer, but so did the Tuna Shak. The oysters were perfect and we went through 238 bushels of oysters - also a new record. The 11th Annual Oyster Roast and Bloody Mary Contest drew an estimated 6,000 participants, and 33 competitors to compete for Best Bloody on the Beach. Much thanks go out to The Goofy Footers and The Hook for entertaining the crowd. Rustic Table of Pawleys Island took home the title of Best Overall (as well as Most Original and Best Name). Other winners SBB (People's Choice), Marline Quay (Hottest) and New South Brewery (Best Garnish). This event raised $25,389 for the Sea Beyond Foundation.
